At Allandale Lodge, we offer two rooms with views out over the lodge gardens, each with their own private ensuite. Both rooms sleep two people and each room includes a queen size bed and quality linen and an electric blanket. The rooms are heated via a radiator to ensure your stay is warm and comfortable.

During your stay, we offer you self-serve continental breakfast provisions. This includes muesli/cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, and a range of spreads. We also offer a selection of teas as well as Nespresso coffee. You can choose to dine in our dining room or outside on our deck, both options offering breathtaking views of the mountains.

Step out of your bedroom into our relaxing living and dining areas – we have two seating areas, complete with a fireplace, telescope and small library/reading nook – perfect for unwinding after a long day exploring the Mackenzie Country.

Whether you are stopping for the night on your way through to the International Dark Sky Reserve or using Fairlie as a base for your Mackenzie holiday, Allandale Lodge is perfect for you to come home to a warm, comfortable night’s sleep and a delicious breakfast the next morning!

Frequently asked questions

How far away is Allandale Lodge from Fairlie town?

We are a 5-minute drive along State Highway 79 from Fairlie township. Turn right out of Hamilton Road, following the road for approximately 5 minutes and you will arrive in Fairlie. There is a compendium in your room with information about the local restaurants and shops in Fairlie.

How far away is Allandale Lodge from Lake Tekapo?

Depending on the weather and traffic conditions at the time, we are a 30-45 minute drive from Lake Tekapo.

Is Allandale Lodge self-catering?

Allandale Lodge provides breakfast during your stay. There are no cooking facilities on site. We recommend dining out to experience the local cuisine. Please make use of the complimentary tea and coffee in the living/dining area. 

Are we able to walk around the gardens at Allandale Lodge?

Yes, please feel free to walk around the gardens at Allandale Lodge during your stay. We have a family dog on the property. Although she is friendly, please do not pat the dog unless accompanied by Shaun or Briar.

What time is breakfast served?

As breakfast is self-serve, please help yourself at a time of your choosing.

I have large items that require storage during my stay. Is there somewhere I can lock them up?

We offer secure, locked storage for your items (e.g. snowboarding/skiing gear, mountain bikes, etc.) during your stay at Allandale Lodge. Please notify Shaun and Briar prior to your stay that you require storage space. 

Can children and pets stay at Allandale Lodge?

Allandale Lodge is not suitable for children or infants under the age of 13-years. We also do not allow pets to stay at the Lodge. 

Can I have tours booked on my behalf during my stay at Allandale Lodge?

Yes, please speak with Shaun or Briar about local attractions in the Mackenzie Region. They would be happy to forward book any trips/tours for you.

Is wifi available?

Yes, we have unlimited wifi available for your personal use during your stay. Please refer to the room compendium for the network name and password.

Allandale Lodge is in a rural location – is the tap water safe to drink?

Yes! Our tap water is from a local supply for the region and is completely safe to drink.

What common areas are available for me to use during my stay?

Please make use of the entire living and dining area. The books are available for you to read during your stay but please do not take them with you. If you wish to use the telescope, please ask Shaun or Briar to set it up for you.

What time is check-in/check-out?

You can check-in to Allandale Lodge between 3.00pm-8.00pm. Check-out is by 10.00am on the day of your departure. Later check-in/check-out may be available by prior arrangement. 


Is smoking/vaping allowed?

Our rooms and the lodge are all non-smoking/vaping.

Do Shaun and Briar live on-site?

Yes, Shaun and Briar live at Allandale Lodge in a separate wing of the lodge. They do use the kitchen and dining area for their personal use, and you will see them around the lodge at times. They are there to help so if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
